Who Is Behind the Beats?
Music Has Always Been More Than Just Sound
I’m Duan Barrino, the music producer and creator behind NJMP Beats.
Music has been part of my journey for years. I’ve spent time creating, producing, recording, and learning the business of music firsthand. That passion also led me to further my education and earn a Bachelor of Science in Music Production from Full Sail University.
For me, that education wasn’t about simply earning a degree. It gave me an opportunity to strengthen the technical and creative knowledge behind something I was already passionate about—making music.
Over the years, my journey has also expanded into podcasting and creating content designed to educate, encourage, and have honest conversations with independent artists.
But music production has always been part of who I am.
NJMP Beats is me getting back to that foundation—and building something specifically for artists who are serious about their music.
Education Meets Experience
There’s a lot that goes into creating music beyond making something that sounds good.
Production, arrangement, recording, mixing, sound selection, technology, and understanding how all those pieces work together are part of the process.
My education in Music Production at Full Sail University, combined with years of hands-on experience creating and working with music, influences how I approach every beat I make.
But when an artist presses play, I’m not expecting them to care about my degree.
I want them to care about what they hear.
Does the beat make you feel something?
Does it give you an idea?
Does it make you immediately start thinking about a hook, melody, verse, or story?
If it does, then I’ve done my job.
Built for Independent Artists
I understand that being an independent artist means wearing a lot of hats.
You’re writing.
You’re recording.
You’re promoting.
You’re building your brand.
You’re learning the business.
You’re trying to grow an audience.
And somewhere in the middle of all of that, you still have to make great music.
That’s where NJMP Beats comes in.
My goal isn’t simply to upload a bunch of instrumentals and hope somebody buys one. I want to create beats that give artists somewhere to go creatively.
Sometimes you hear a beat and immediately know what you want to say.
That’s the feeling I’m chasing.
Whether you’re looking for Hip-Hop, Trap, R&B, Afro-inspired sounds, Gospel, or something that doesn’t fit neatly into one category, I want NJMP Beats to be a place where you can listen, create, and find inspiration for your next record.
More Than Just Beats
One thing I’ve learned over the years is that independent artists don’t only need music.
They need information.
They need to understand recording, songwriting, performing, promotion, branding, the music business, and how to make smarter decisions with the resources they have.
That’s why NJMP Beats is becoming more than just a beat store.
Through the beats, articles, videos, and other resources you’ll find here, I want to help independent artists become better at what they do—not just sell them something.
That’s also where my experience with Not Just Music Podcast comes into the picture.
The same philosophy I’ve carried into those conversations applies here:
Keep it real. Keep it honest. And give artists information they can actually use.
Find the Beat That Brings Your Vision to Life
At the end of the day, every song starts somewhere.
Sometimes it’s a lyric.
Sometimes it’s an emotion.
Sometimes it’s a story you’ve been waiting to tell.
And sometimes…
it starts with the beat.
That’s what NJMP Beats is here for.
I’m going to keep creating, experimenting, and building sounds for artists who aren’t afraid to develop their own identity.
So take your time. Listen around.
And when you hear the one that makes you stop and say:
“Yeah…that’s it.”
You know what to do.
You’ve got the vision. Let’s find the sound that brings it to life.
